Pantone Colour of the Year 2015: Marsala

Pantone announced it’s color of the year, Marsala. I have to say I’m way more excited about this color over last years pick of Radiant Orchid, while I loved purple hues, that one just wasn’t doing it for me. Marsala is described as rich, elegant, and full-bodied. It’s a grounded statement colour when used on it’s own, or a strong accent with many other colors. While I’m not a huge fan of the name, as I find it awkward to say, I appreciate the origin of it, because the word Marsala is taken from an Italian wine originally from the city of Marsala. It’s known as a fortified wine, you can read more about it here.

The color itself is slowly growing on me, especially now that I’ve searched online for products that use various shades of it. I’m especially in love with my new discovery, Strathcona Stockings, a Canadian company with amazing designs! Also, you know you’re getting older when you see fashions you used to wear in grade school come full circle and be main stream again, I’m loving that Doc Martens are considered cool now! Fun fact, I used to own a pair of purple ones back in grade school.
