You know when you shop online and you find something you’re totally in love with, you add it to your cart and go to the check out only to discover there’s insane duty fees and shipping fees because you live in Canada and that beautiful item is in the US. Ugh, so much frustration. I’ve always been annoyed with this and tend to avoid online shopping because of it. I prefer to find alternatives, DIY or thrift shop. I’ve noticed in the last while Canadian online retail has been emerging and one of my new favourites for home decor is PlaidFox.
PlaidFox is new online home decor gem and guess what? They’re Canadian! They’re duty-free and they have impeccable taste when it comes to their collections, with a nice mix of traditional, contemporary, vintage and modern pieces. If you’re not sure what all those design terms mean and you’re feeling a little stuck figuring out what your own personal style is, you can take their Style Test and it’ll help you shop and create a space that suits your personal style. The test is straight forward and guides you on a visual tour, because most people know what they like when they see it, but don’t know how to describe it in words.
I took the test and it told me I was a mix of Mid-Century Modern and Industrial. It was crazy how on point it was, I am obsessed with Mid-Century Modern and I live in an industrial loft apartment. I took it one step further and had a little fun. I made Andrew take the test too, I wanted to see if we had the same taste, so I watched him click through the questions and sure enough he got the same results as me. Yay! If you’re a little unsure of what your style is, you should totally take the test.
I’ve been pretty addicted to Pinterest lately (aren’t we all?) been dreaming of new ideas for our living space, I can’t stop being influences by things I see on there. White airy spaces, industrial with a mix of clean modern lines and vintage accents. Here’s a few of my favourites right now. I’d share the original sources of each image, but I couldn’t find them through Pinterest.
I love each space for different reasons, sometimes I think I have a home decor split personality, because I really love clean modern lines in one of the first spaces, but then truthfully I’d rather live in the warm wood and eclectic feel of the other spaces. I looked around on PlaidFox for some decor inspiration, here’s a few items I’m loving right now.
