There’s something about a new year and signs of Spring (here on the West Coast) that makes me want to refresh my home. Now that we’ve been spending so much time at home over this past year with this pandemic, it feels extra important to make it feel like a beautiful cozy space.

I’ve had basic white storage cabinets in our main living area for years. They were functional and did the job, but were very boring. So I updated our storage cabinets for something with character and function.

I also moved around some decor to keep things fresh, I like to shop my own home for decor, sometimes if you just move an item across the room it feels new again.

BEFORE: large white cabinets, lacking character and not made well

I’ve kindly been gifted the Bios collection from Article, I knew these pieces would be amazing quality because I also have their Seno Sideboard and Ecole dining chairs. I love the Bios cabinets for their modern industrial style, fits perfectly with our modern industrial loft. The black metal legs and the oak veneer wood pair so well with some pieces we already have in our loft. What I love most is that these cabinets have legs so it’ll be easy to dust around them and visually it makes our space feel larger because you can see more of the floor.

The Bios media unit works perfectly with our television. I was a bit worried it would be too low because most people wall-mount their TV, but it actually makes this area feel super cozy. If we wanted to wall mount this TV we’d have to add extra supports inside the wall, so we’ll wait a few more years and maybe invest in one of those fancy picture frame TVs. For now, this works so well for us.

I’ve also used the Bios Sideboard to replace the other white cabinets in our space. The drawers make for more functional storage, but honestly, I’ve done so much decluttering during this pandemic that we don’t have nearly as much stuff as well used to. I might even move some of our kitchen stuff into these 3 drawers since it’s only a few steps away.

If I feel like changing my furniture layout, I also have the flexibility to move the Bios Media Unit behind our sofa. I am one of those people that loves moving furniture around often to keep things fresh.

The Bios cabinets both have soft close drawers which I find are more practical for storage so I don’t have to bend down to get at the back of the cabinet like our previous white cabinets.

I had an awesome experience with the delivery of these cabinets. Due to COVID, Article is doing contactless delivery so everyone stays safe. Everything is scheduled through email/text and then confirmed with a phone call. We live in an apartment, so their team came inside the building and dropped the boxes just inside our door so we could unpackage them ourselves. I was very impressed.

Your place looks wonderful. I love the new pieces you’ve added. Watching your decorating journey has been so inspiring and I’m trying to follow your lead and do more purging in my home. The drawer fronts on your new piece really make the wood at the bottom of your couch pop. (Or maybe it’s just me lol)
Can’t wait to see what comes next 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Gemma, so nice to know you’ve been following along. It has totally been a journey and will always slowly evolve.
