Date Peanut Butter Bars, No-Bake and Sugar-Free

no-bake date and peanut butter bars

I’ve become obsessed with dates. They are delicious on their own as a snack, but they’re also a great way to replace sugar in many recipes and baked goods or rethink the way you make traditional baked goods. This 2 layer no-bake date peanut butter bar recipe is refined sugar free but you’d never know because they’re so satisfying, chewy and delicious! Who knew a date peanut butter combo would be so good!

A Totally Tea-riffic DIY Valentine

Valentine's Day DIY Card

A quick and quirky DIY Valentine that pairs well with a small gift for your girlfriend, boyfriend, mom, dad,  friend or anyone you love! It’s also great for birthday’s, anniversaries, or just because. I like that it doesn’t require a lot of craft supplies or skills, but it ends up being super cute, because in the end it’s the thought that matters.

Vegan Cashew Nut Cheese Recipe

Vegan Cashew Nut Cheese Recipe

Before I get into this delicious vegan cashew nut cheese recipe, lets talk about food in general. Over the past few years I’ve really been looking at what I eat and where it comes from. My whole life I’ve avoided red meat simply because I don’t feel good when I eat it, it slows down my digestive system and I feel tired because of it. But recently I tend to avoid it because of how the animals are treated. The only meats I do eat are poultry, fish and occasionally bacon if I know it’s quality, hey I’m far from perfect. […]

Maple Sea Salt Peanut Butter Oat Bar Recipe

Peanut Butter Oat Bar Recipe

This maple sea salt peanut butter oat bar recipe is so good and (somewhat) good for you too. Filled with healthy fats from coconut oil and natural peanut butter. I’d also consider them low sugar because it’s sweetened with maple syrup, but really I guess it’s still sugar, but better for you because it’s not refined white sugar. Although there is maple syrup in the oatmeal base too, you can make these delicious bars without the oatmeal base, they firm up in the freezer just as good without the oat base because of the coconut oil and the natural peanut butter, I’d even […]

We’re Getting Our Vintage Chairs Upholstered

vintage chair before

It only took just over a year, but we’ve finally started the process to get our vintage mid century chairs upholstered. I had written about it many months ago and now it’s finally becoming a reality! So far Andrew has refinished the wood and cleaned up the brass on the arms and legs. Here’s a before and after of that process. The arms and legs were sanded down to reveal the wood grain and a clear finished was applied. Here’s some before photos of the 2 chairs, one chair is obviously in better condition than the other, but both have holes […]

Home Decor Ideas with Pantone Color of the Year

home decor pantone 2016

It took me a long time to warm up to the Pantone 2016 colors of the year. I couldn’t figure out how I’d use them in home decor because I kept thinking of the 1980’s. I’ll admit, it wasn’t love at first sight, but then I started thinking about all the objects I admire that use these colors or various shades of them and realized they can be quite beautiful if they’re used in the right way. It’s all about perspective and style. There’s 2 colors, one is Rose Quartz and the other is Serenity. You can read more about […]

Recipe Adventure: Cheddar Cheese Scones

Easy Cheddar Cheese Scone Recipe

On weekends I like to indulge in a little baking and comfort food. This cheddar cheese scone recipe is one of my go to recipes for something quick and delicious for brunch or an afternoon tea. I have a Kitchen Aid Mixer so I make them in 1 bowl and it takes no time at all with virtually no mess. I just throw all the dry ingredients in the bowl, mix together and then add in the butter, cheese and finally the milk. When it all comes together I put it onto a cutting board and flatten the giant ball out […]

This past Summer Andrew and I found this awesome solid plywood vintage sideboard, credenza, mid century modern cabinet (whatever you want to call it). I finally took some photos of it to share here and can’t wait to finally sell it….or keep it… It weights a ton and if you could have seen how we got it home you would of had a good laugh, lets just say thank goodness we didn’t live too far from where we found it! Here’s the before photos of this vintage sideboard: Here’s some close ups of all the ugly laminate that was broken and […]

Christmas Card Design Trends at Minted

Minted metallic foil holiday cards

October is quickly coming to an end and you know what that means, suddenly Christmas will be near! Huuraaah! But along with the feelings of excitement and joy, that overwhelming feeling of getting things done sneaks in. One of those things is creating a unique Christmas card to give out to friends and family. The last few years I’ve been into sending out cards to the clients I work with as well as friends and family and making my own gift tags. I usually make the designs myself and print them locally, but with my schedule being fairly crazy this year, there’s just not […]
