This maple sea salt peanut butter oat bar recipe is so good and (somewhat) good for you too. Filled with healthy fats from coconut oil and natural peanut butter. I’d also consider them low sugar because it’s sweetened with maple syrup, but really I guess it’s still sugar, but better for you because it’s not refined white sugar. Although there is maple syrup in the oatmeal base too, you can make these delicious bars without the oatmeal base, they firm up in the freezer just as good without the oat base because of the coconut oil and the natural peanut butter, I’d even […]
It only took just over a year, but we’ve finally started the process to get our vintage mid century chairs upholstered. I had written about it many months ago and now it’s finally becoming a reality! So far Andrew has refinished the wood and cleaned up the brass on the arms and legs. Here’s a before and after of that process. The arms and legs were sanded down to reveal the wood grain and a clear finished was applied. Here’s some before photos of the 2 chairs, one chair is obviously in better condition than the other, but both have holes […]
It took me a long time to warm up to the Pantone 2016 colors of the year. I couldn’t figure out how I’d use them in home decor because I kept thinking of the 1980’s. I’ll admit, it wasn’t love at first sight, but then I started thinking about all the objects I admire that use these colors or various shades of them and realized they can be quite beautiful if they’re used in the right way. It’s all about perspective and style. There’s 2 colors, one is Rose Quartz and the other is Serenity. You can read more about […]
I assume you’re reading this post because you’re an Earl Grey tea lover like myself and you love shortbread. This shortbread cookie recipe infuses the flavours and smells of classic Earl Grey tea with the creamy textures of shortbread. This recipe is perfect for the holidays for it’s simplicity and it’s not overly sweet. Indulge in these decadent shortbread cookies, they sound fancy, but they’re actually very easy to make. On weekends I like to indulge in a little baking and comfort food. This cheddar cheese scone recipe is one of my go to recipes for something quick and delicious for brunch or an afternoon tea. I have a Kitchen Aid Mixer so I make them in 1 bowl and it takes no time at all with virtually no mess. I just throw all the dry ingredients in the bowl, mix together and then add in the butter, cheese and finally the milk. When it all comes together I put it onto a cutting board and flatten the giant ball out […]
This past Summer Andrew and I found this awesome solid plywood vintage sideboard, credenza, mid century modern cabinet (whatever you want to call it). I finally took some photos of it to share here and can’t wait to finally sell it….or keep it… It weights a ton and if you could have seen how we got it home you would of had a good laugh, lets just say thank goodness we didn’t live too far from where we found it! Here’s the before photos of this vintage sideboard: Here’s some close ups of all the ugly laminate that was broken and […]

Another Christmas is on it’s way and I’m here to share more free printable Christmas gift tags with you! Just download the .pdf file in the link below and print on card stock paper at your local print shop or on your home printer.
October is quickly coming to an end and you know what that means, suddenly Christmas will be near! Huuraaah! But along with the feelings of excitement and joy, that overwhelming feeling of getting things done sneaks in. One of those things is creating a unique Christmas card to give out to friends and family. The last few years I’ve been into sending out cards to the clients I work with as well as friends and family and making my own gift tags. I usually make the designs myself and print them locally, but with my schedule being fairly crazy this year, there’s just not […]
I’ve been selling stuff on Craigslist forever. I’ve sold tear outs from home renovations, appliances, old toilets, cabinets, housewares and furniture. I feel like over the years I’ve really developed a knack for knowing how to write a post. As much as I’ve sold stuff on craigslist, I’ve also purchased a lot over the years too. My purchases are mostly vintage furniture for our apartment and for our furniture upcycling projects. Going to strangers homes to buy something from a photo you saw online can be very scary, there’s a lot to consider and so I thought I’d share some tips and […]
I decided to write about my gas range after having a few recent conversations with people helping them decide if they should go electric or gas. I used to be all about electric only because it’s what I grew up with and I had a mild fear about using gas, but when we moved into our place over 3 years ago, the gas bill was included in our strata fees and the gas line was already there, so it was a no-brainer to go with a gas range. I immediately got over my fear and now I’ll never go back. Since […]
