By Nicole & Andrew Holiday season is here and i’ve found the most beautifiul and delicious recipe that will wow your family and your guests. These look amazing on the plate with their deep red colour. The twist to this recipe is to use beets to achieve that deep red glow. Ingredients: 4 firm, medium-size pears, such as Anjou, Bartlett, or Bosc 2 medium beets, peeled and sliced 1 bottle robust (and cheap) red wine 1/2 cup sugar 1 vanilla bean, cut in half lengthwise 2 whole cinnamon sticks 1 orange peel 1 lemon peel 2 whole cloves 1 star anise Vanilla […]
The other day I went downtown and made sure to snap a few photos of the progress along Granville Street. Luckily the street is still closed, so I could stand in the middle and get a good view. I really hope they bring back the trees, it’s sure looking concrete and bare. Just about every other block in Vancouver is being redeveloped, but at Richards near Yaletown, where they’ve demolished Richards on Richards to make room for a new condo developement, there’s a few heritage houses that have been put up on blocks to either be moved or sent to […]

I have a pretty good small toy collection from my childhood and I just don’t want to throw them out. They still make me happy and the colours and shapes are so fun. I didn’t want them to take up shelf space and clutter areas around the apartment, so I found a shadow box at Michaels on sale, but can also find great deals on Amazon. It was the perfect size to just place all of them in and create a 3D collage with all the toys. You can hang it on a wall like the photos I’ve shown here: I […]
I will always have fond memories from my childhood of reaching into my shoebox full of coloured pencils to create amazing works of art, or colour outside of the lines. I’d draw for hours on end. It’s really amazing how something so simple can be so entertaining for so long when you’re a child. The point of this memory is that the other day I came across this beautiful collection of 500 pencils and it blew me away. Check out more from 500 Pencils: http://500pencils.socialdesigner.com/about
Here’s just a few things I think are awesome for Fall this year. Since it’s really creeping up on us fast in Vancouver, there’s nothing like a solid pair of boots that might end up lasting you a lifetime if you take good care of them. I’ve been eyeing Frye Boots lately. I’m really into vintage/retro, specifically hats and jewllery, i’ve discovered some amazing hat designs from Louise Green, you may have spotted one of her designs on Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester, in the season premiere. If you’re wondering where the vintage cocktail floral ring comes from, it’s an Etsy […]
So it looks like it’s working out, i’ve purchased several plain headbands and plenty of feathers, but i’m still on a hunt for some brown ones! Here’s the second headband i’ve made. Vintage brooch and braided headband holds these soft black, blue and green feathers. And don’t forget the peacock feather too!

While doing my daily browse through Vancouver is Awesome, I was happy to notice that i’ve been featured on their site! I’d like to say thanks to Bob Kronbauer for making this happen. Check out the post about my blog:
For the past year i’ve been on the lookout for one of these: Vancouver is a hard place to find them apparently. I’m dying for the day when I can display all my random collections in one perfect place on my wall. Does anyone know where I can find one in Vancouver? I’ve tried antique shows and flea markets, craigslist and ebay. Someday…someday I will find one.
