For the past year i’ve been on the lookout for one of these: Vancouver is a hard place to find them apparently. I’m dying for the day when I can display all my random collections in one perfect place on my wall. Does anyone know where I can find one in Vancouver? I’ve tried antique shows and flea markets, craigslist and ebay. Someday…someday I will find one.
Ever since I can remember, i’ve always been a bargain hunter. If I find something I love in a pricey boutique, i’ll tell myself that I can find it online for less, or find something similar for less. It’s all about how you put it together to create your “look.” No need to spend hundreds.
A while ago I talked about a contest where you could enter to win some amazing jewellery created by Bella-Bijou Jewellery. Today she announced the winner, I sat there thinking, meh I might as well not watch the video, I never win anything, it won’t be me…but I clicked the play button anyway…a few minutes later I freaked out when her random computer program name selector picked me! Yup, i’ve won amazing earrings and a beautiful necklace. Here’s what i’ve won, should be arriving in the mail soon:
You’d think that on a street called Broadway in Vancouver, British Columbia, there’d be some pretty swanky fashion, right? Well one night on a walk to the movies I came across these little gems: Are those tassels that belong on pillows?? Is that my grandmothers old table cloth? Okay I don’t mean to totally bash these designers, but I just find it pretty amusing and had to share it with the world. I mean, there obviously is a market out there for this stuff if they can afford to keep their location on this main street.
For years i’ve seen this sign located near West Broadway & Fir street, it’s probably the best karate school sign i’ve seen…ever! And to think, the thing is super old, but it still does an amazing job at catching your eye on the street. And just a little something extra to set the mood:
Finally after many weeks of procrastination, I got around to making myself a cute feather headband. I simply refused to purchase one from the many places around town that are selling them for $20-$45. All it really takes is a little trip to a dollar store or a fish tackle supply store for the feathers and another trip to a thrift store or in my case, my mom’s old 80’s jewellry for some embellishment. And lastly find yourself some inexpensive headbands from accessory stores or even a dollar store. Then with a little creativity it all comes together. Now that […]
Last week I discovered the works from Kiel Mead, when I got this ring I had no idea who the designer was, so I did a little google searching and was surprised to find out that Kiel Mead is a male designer! Who would of thought that a guy could design such a cute piece of jewelry! I’m now thinking about getting the matching necklace, but maybe the ring is just enough. Only down side to the design is that you can’t wear it too often, because it hooks onto everything. It’s definately just a special occasion piece.
I’ve recently been forced to sort through a bunch of my childhood items that were in storage at my parents place, now that they’re moving, it was time to downsize and get rid of a lot of toys I had been storing away. This post is not about the toys I’ve given away, but it’s about the one’s i’ve decided to keep, because they were a big part of my childhood and i’m still attached to them….even at the age of twenty-six…. Meet Pound Puppy, Pooh Bear and Glo Worm. What’s your childhood toy or item? A bear? A blanket? […]
A few weeks ago my brother and I took my dad out for brunch for his birthday. We went to a hidden gem in the hills in West Vancouver. This epic location has amazing views of the entire city. (although the extremely hot weather has created quite the haze, so it wasn’t that clear, but it was still beautiful) Wondering where we went? http://fraicherestaurant.ca Brunch was delicious, service was wonderful. I had 2 turkey sausages, scrambled eggs, toast (from a local bakery), and baby potatoes that were covered in herbs and sea salt, dressed with some grilled tomato and asparagus […]
This past weekend we went out to a local river to enjoy some relief from the hot weather, in the cold fresh water. We sat on some rocks, dipping our feet in the water and along came a little friend. This really cute bird was diving under the water (didn’t manage to catch that on film) and catching fish and eating algae. He kept us company the whole time we were there. Does anyone have any idea what kind of bird he is? Click the link below to check out my video River Bird from visualheart on Vimeo.
