Bed Frame Inspiration

under bed storage

Not too long ago we upgraded from my old queen size bed to a king size. It was a big change, but necessary because my mattress was old and there was a big sale so we got a really good deal. We opted to get the box spring that comes with the mattress because my old IKEA frame would be too small and it was falling apart. We then decided to just get one of those cheap metal frames that come with the mattresses because we didn’t know what else to do at the time and we had zero budget. […]

Friday Favorites: Local Love

friday favorites

This week I’m sharing mostly local favorites. A local ceramics designer, a local crafts maker and jewellery designer, ice cream, beauty products, candles, alcohol and a local product that will probably change the world. Lets talk about that product that will change the world. It’s called Abeego. It’s an all natural wrap for food and containers. It’s used in the same way you’d use plastic wrap, but obviously way better for the environment. You can read more about it and watch videos on their website. I’ve got a few sheets of their product and I’m in love with it. It keeps veggies fresh […]

Friday Favorites

friday favorites

Happy Friday everyone! I’m introducing a new regular feature on my blog called Friday Favorites. I’ll be sharing a small selection of products, diy projects and home decor I discovered in the past week. Here’s what I’ve spotted on Pinterest, Etsy and other sources this week. Basically, the internet is telling me to put some more color and pattern in my life. I’m obsessed with the legging company I’ve shared below, Sweet Legs have so many awesome patterns and colors, I have yet to purchase a pair, but they’re on my list of must haves! I’ve included a couple of DIY […]

Pantone Colour of the Year 2015: Marsala

Pantone color of the year: Marsala

Pantone announced it’s color of the year, Marsala. I have to say I’m way more excited about this color over last years pick of Radiant Orchid, while I loved purple hues, that one just wasn’t doing it for me. Marsala is described as rich, elegant, and full-bodied. It’s a grounded statement colour when used on it’s own, or a strong accent with many other colors. While I’m not a huge fan of the name, as I find it awkward to say, I appreciate the origin of it, because the word Marsala is taken from an Italian wine originally from the city of […]

The Perfect Earl Grey Tea

Earl Grey Tea

I’m sharing a secret. I love Earl Grey tea and for years I thought I was enjoying a good cup, but then I went to a bridal shower at a local tea shop and discovered the most amazing Earl Grey tea on the planet. I’m not even exaggerating, it’s really that good.

Becoming a Freelance Designer and Making A Home Office

home office before

This past year has been crazy, yes I literally mean crazy. That’s the only way I can sum up the ups and downs I’ve experienced in my work life. I’m about to share details that I haven’t shared with many people, I’ve just been too busy focusing on moving forward with my life to talk about what went on. It all started when I lost my agency job of almost 8 years, it didn’t end in the way I had always imagined in my head it would end. I won’t get into details, but basically I wasn’t getting paid for […]

How to Remove Seeds from a Pomegrante

Pomegranate Seeds

The beautiful pomegranate is here and very ripe. Get them while you can, they’re so so good for you and full of amazing health benefits. I know what you’re thinking, it’s just such a pain to remove the seeds from the fruit and my kitchen gets super messy, why bother?! Well first of all, Pomegranates contain fibre, antioxidants, vitamin K and C which are all things that can help fight off cold and flu season which is fast approaching. Secondly, it’s really not as hard as you think to remove the seeds. Here’s the quick method I use to remove the […]

Using a Vintage Dresser as a Changing Table

vintage painted dressers

I thought I’d take a moment to say how grateful I am to have the most awesome customers. There’s nothing more amazing than seeing a piece of furniture I worked on finally finding a home. Even more exciting if it’s in a baby’s nursery. I thought I’d share some photos sent in from 2 new mom’s using my dressers as changing tables. It’s an inventive way to have a changing table, but then once your little one outgrows it, you’ll have it as cute added storage in their bedroom. Photo Credits: Megan King (top left), Katherine Van Der Gracht (bottom). Here’s some more inspiration […]

Staples Home Office Wishlist

I’m submitting my last minute entry for the Staples Home Office #MakeMoreMakeover Contest. Better almost late then never! Our home office is in the middle of our apartment and since we live in an open space, it’s necessary to have the office area very organized and clutter free. I’d love to have organizational containers to update our space, proper task lighting, supportive chairs, and a monitor (I currently work on my laptop, which is horrible for Graphic Design and my posture.) Who knew Staples had such cute and functional things! Check out the pen below, it’s the most expensive pen I’ve ever seen, […]

Hallway Art

Our hallway is very broken up with doors, small walls and stairs. There’s a small section of wall that you can see when you walk in the door, and it was asking for some art! My parents gave us these awesome bicycle prints, they have been in our family for years. We had some super old Ikea frames that were actually made of wood, yes, that’s how old they were. So I purchased some mat board from Michaels and cut them to fit into the frames and just like that we added some character to the space. The cabinet below […]
