Disconnect From Your Phone By Wearing A Watch + A JORD Wood Watch Giveaway!

JORD wood watches

When last did you check what time it was on a real watch? If you’re like me, you haven’t worn a watch since the smartphone was invented. I’ve gotten so used to pulling out my phone to check the time, but find myself getting caught up in checking my social media notifications, emails and text messages only to put my phone away realizing I’ve totally forgotten to check the time! Smartphones have become something we can’t live without. I’ll admit, If I haven’t checked my instagram in a day I feel like I’m missing something, it’s almost an addition, it also causes […]

Summer Style Essentials

Summer style essentials

Happy Summer everyone! I can’t believe it’s already here, although in Vancouver it’s been sunny and dry for weeks already, I just have no idea where the time has gone. I’m one of those people that loves the long days and bright skies that Summer brings, but I really don’t do well in the heat. I’m much happier under a tree in the shade wearing a hat and drinking cold water than tanning in full sun at the beach. I’m also very practical when it comes to Summer style, a good dress made from light fabric, comfy sandals, a hat […]

The Pink Flamingo is the New Pineapple

Pink Flamingo Fashion

Remember last year when the Pineapple took over the world. It was literally everywhere, from dresses, to home decor and even shoes. I posted about it last Summer because it was kind of fun and put a smile on my face even if it went a little out of control. This Summer the Pink Flamingo seems to be the new pineapple. Kate Spade seems to be the most into the graphic, she’s put it on dresses, tops, purses, watches and jewellery. I’m also seeing it at more affordable retailers, cute stuff for kids at Old Navy and Society6 has lots of great artist […]

Spring Style

Spring fashion style

I’ll admit, I’m not really a fashionista, I tend to dress pretty casual and practical, especially when Spring weather arrives. I like comfort and ease but it still needs to look good. On top of that I like a good deal. I’ve recently been liking Joe Fresh and Old Navy, they have surprisingly fun patterns and styles lately and at a good price. I picked up this cute patterned dress from Joe Fresh and I’ve been wearing it very casual with a pair of flat black sneakers, a long cardigan and leggings. It’s perfect for running errands and daily activities and […]

Friday Favorites: Local Love

friday favorites

This week I’m sharing mostly local favorites. A local ceramics designer, a local crafts maker and jewellery designer, ice cream, beauty products, candles, alcohol and a local product that will probably change the world. Lets talk about that product that will change the world. It’s called Abeego. It’s an all natural wrap for food and containers. It’s used in the same way you’d use plastic wrap, but obviously way better for the environment. You can read more about it and watch videos on their website. I’ve got a few sheets of their product and I’m in love with it. It keeps veggies fresh […]

Happy Friday everyone! I’m introducing a new regular feature on my blog called Friday Favorites. I’ll be sharing a small selection of products, diy projects and home decor I discovered in the past week. Here’s what I’ve spotted on Pinterest, Etsy and other sources this week. Basically, the internet is telling me to put some more color and pattern in my life. I’m obsessed with the legging company I’ve shared below, Sweet Legs have so many awesome patterns and colors, I have yet to purchase a pair, but they’re on my list of must haves! I’ve included a couple of DIY […]

Pantone Colour of the Year 2015: Marsala

Pantone color of the year: Marsala

Pantone announced it’s color of the year, Marsala. I have to say I’m way more excited about this color over last years pick of Radiant Orchid, while I loved purple hues, that one just wasn’t doing it for me. Marsala is described as rich, elegant, and full-bodied. It’s a grounded statement colour when used on it’s own, or a strong accent with many other colors. While I’m not a huge fan of the name, as I find it awkward to say, I appreciate the origin of it, because the word Marsala is taken from an Italian wine originally from the city of […]

Accessories for Autumn, Including Handmade Unique Designs

fall and winter accessories

I’ve been spying some pretty accessories online lately and thought I’d share them with you. As usual I’ve been attracted to purple hues, mixed with black and leather. I’ve included a few local makers that I really love because we all know it’s super important to support local talent and shops. I’m thinking these accessories would make for great holiday gifts or why not a gift for yourself! I particularly obsessed with the leather shoe makers Love Jules Leather, their craft is so beautiful, each pair is unique and they even do custom orders with beautiful colours and engraved designs in the leather. I […]

The Summer of Pineapple

Sometimes I find trends really funny. Remember a few years ago when everything was “put a bird on it”, now it’s all “put a pineapple on it.” This trend has almost worn out as fast as it appeared, but to be honest I think pineapples are just so damn cute that it’s hard to dislike anything with a pineapple on it! I’ve gathered together some things with pineapples on them, from handmade and crafted to mass produced, so many cute things! Necklace + Earrings  //  Woven Basket  //  Skateboard  //  Watch  //  iPhone Case  //  Card  //  Cake  //  DIY […]

Plus Size Summer Style

For most of my life I’ve been what they call a plus size girl. It was easier finding clothes when I was younger, but now that I’m in my 30s, I need outfits for both work and weekends. I feel like there’s a huge limit on affordable plus size clothing. I consider myself a very thrifty person and I like to mix new items with things I find at the thrift store, that way I’m not completely breaking the bank. I’ve pulled together a few items from shops I manage to find one or 2 items from occasionally. I really […]

Vintage Jewellery Designs

It all started about 5 years ago, when I was shopping with Andrew at a local antique fair here in Vancouver. He spotted an old watch with a face shaped like a heart, he bought it for me and I turned it into a necklace and wore it almost everyday. I’d constantly get people asking me where it was from and where they could get one. So, after several years of thinking about creating vintage jewellery designs, I’ve finally been able to source a few vintage watches and have made a handful of jewellery designs. Each piece is unique and […]
