Last night I had the opportunity to take part in a fun art and culture event hosted by Ford Canada. This well timed event took place ahead of the upcoming first annual Vancouver Mural Festival where artists have taken over Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant to paint huge murals on the walls of local businesses. Learn more about that on the Vancouver Mural Festival website. The Ford event was 3 parts, a scavenger hunt, dinner and a graffiti art workshop. The scavenger hunt had everyone in groups driving around the city in a 2017 Ford Fusion finding clues that would lead us […]

This weekend I went to my very first blogger conference. Blog Podium is a conference that has workshops and talks for bloggers or people who want to blog. The 3 key words to describe this event are connection, conversation and collaboration. I was so excited but also nervous to meet so many talented bloggers from Canada and the US. I walked in with my bag full of custom pencils to hand out instead of a standard business card in an attempt to be different. But I also had a few business cards on hand just incase. I was so overwhelmed […]
This past weekend I did a workshop with Chef Juno Kim. He is a Vancouver based chef that does pop-up diners, food styling, catering and cooking lessons. Check out his instagram account to see his beautiful creations and visit his website for more information. Photos from Juno’s instagram account Now for the details. The workshop was $35 (really great value!). We were all instructed to bring our phones, chargers and a notebook. The afternoon began at 1pm and the class gathered in the private room located at The Juice Truck’s retail location. There was a long table with containers of organic salads, vegetables and […]

Today I got a sneak peek at the launch of the Poppytalk for Target collection. The theme is glamping or glam camping and everything is just so beautiful. The best part, it’s a really affordable way to add colour, pattern and style to your party. I’m particularly in love the the cake stands and I’m excited to use them this summer. They are made from thick coated cardboard and they pack flat for easy storage! They’re currently sitting on my latest dresser makeover and match so perfectly! By the way, the dresser and highboy are for sale if anyone’s interested. […]
This past Friday I went to Poppytalk Etsy Craft Party and had a total blast! Not only was the party great, but I finally got a chance to check out Jan and Earl’s new shop located at 109 East Broadway at Main Street. It’s such a breath of fresh air with white walls, tall ceilings and an array of items for sale from local designers, makers and crafters. Check it out if you haven’t done so already! The theme for the Etsy Craft Party was embroidery on photography. Jan had purchased vintage photos from Etsy, but also recommended bringing our own. […]
For my friends bridal shower, I wanted to create a simple and useable party favour. I purchased some tiny glass bottles from Michaels and filled them with Japanese Roasted Rice Tea. Then I designed and printed small labels to hang on the bottles with string from the dollar store. The photos explain it further.
This weekend I hosted a bridal shower at our apartment. I went all out and made my first 4 layer cake, Vanilla and Chocolate Earl Grey cake with Earl Grey butter cream icing. I had previously blogged about this cake, but decided to experiment and do a chocolate version, the contrast when you cut it open, looks so fun! In the next few weeks i’ll be blogging about a few of the decorations I created for the shower, but I felt the need to share the cake photos now.
As promised, here’s some photos of how the origami ornaments turned out! I had the day off today, so I was very motivated to fold some paper! I went to my local dollar store and picked up some origami paper and I was on my way to awesomeness! Instructions for these can be found on Poppytalk.
Tonight was great fun! I went to a workshop hosted by Poppytalk at Anthropologie. We learned how to make origami Christmas ornaments. Hopefully in the next few weeks i’ll get around to finishing the project and post some photos of how it turned out. Thanks to Joanne for sending me some photos to post. She’s the lovely lady in the last photo of this post, along with Jan from Poppytalk. Come back soon to see photos of the final project!
