The first Christmas wreath I ever had was back in 2015, it was a gift and it was absolutely stunning, you can check it out over in this feature post on Poppytalk’s blog. This season, it seems like the pom pom is all the rage along with all things wool and felt. I really wanted a neutral minimalist wreath for our home and I refused to buy one, crafting something unique is always the way to go. After a quick search on Pinterest, I found a few pom pom wreaths that I really admired, but I wasn’t into the medley of […]
Happy Holidays! Here’s a set of 12 printable modern Christmas gift tags versatile for just about any gift. They are perfect for last minute gift wrapping and brighten up plain kraft paper or gold paper. I’ve designed them simple and modern on a standard 8.5″x11″ letter-sized sheet of paper so all you have to do is pay for the design and the .pdf file will download. Then print it at home on card stock paper or take the file to your local print shops like Staples or Kinkos and get it printed on card stock. The last step is to […]
I’ve used a lot of spray paints over the years, but I keep going back to Rustoleum for my furniture projects. I use metallic gold spray paints for metal drawer pulls or furniture feet, but I’ve noticed some metallic spray paints are more realistic than others. I’ve had a lot of questions from readers about metallic gold spray paints. I thought I’d do a simple comparison of 3 types of metallic gold spray paint from Rustoleum to help you with your projects. It’s very hard to capture the exact colour and brightness in photos, so even after reading this post, […]

I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for a new year to begin, 2016 has been a very weird year, especially now that he who shall not be named is about to be the American President, so scary (and I’m in Canada!). What I’m getting at here is that we all need to focus on spreading joy, happiness and being kind to one another. What better time to do it than at Christmas! The holiday season is pretty much here and I’ll be spreading joy with customized Christmas cards that I’ll be printing through Minted.com. I’ve done this for 2 years […]
Here we are again, another Christmas is just around the corner and I’ve decided to share more free printable gift tags with all my wonderful readers! I’ve designed them for the past 2 years and I think this will become an annual tradition because I find printable tags easy to print, assemble and customize with ribbon or string. You can find previous years gift tags over here and here. This year, the color scheme is minimalist with light mauve, grey and black, a little Scandinavian inspired! I was also inspired by my friend Angie Coates recent pin design and had to […]
Last week I walked into my local Habitat For Humanity Restore, where you can find used home items such as construction materials, furniture and fixtures. I was hunting for a new furniture project when I stumbled upon some ugly brass and glass 1980’s light fixtures. I thought, wow these look like a terrarium I had seen at a speciality decor store. I decided to bring one home to attempt to transform it into a terrarium! I figured if I failed it wasn’t a big deal because it was just $3. I saw it as a chance to be creative. Here’s what the […]
A friend found this small chest of drawers in an alley way and messaged me about it, when I saw the photos I immediately knew there was something beautiful under all the ugly contact paper it was covered in. Yes, it was covered in contact paper, you know, that sticky sheet paper people use to line shelves or drawers. Ew! The ugly faux wood pattern was making me blind, I couldn’t wait to remove it. They even went to the effort to cover the legs and cut around the handles. The most frightening part was that under all of that sticky nasty paper was real […]
After spending the past couple of years fixing up old furniture I’ve come across a lot of rusted metal, it’s fairly straight forward to fix larger areas of metal with spray paint or just replace it with new hardware, but sometimes there’s smaller areas like the feet on furniture legs or accent inlays of metal that are rusted and you can’t replace them because you can’t source the parts. I’m about to show you the easiest trick to make rusted metal look new again, anyone can do it! Get yourself a metallic Sharpie pen, in this case I used gold.
Spring is in full swing, although in Vancouver it’s feeling more like Summer, it’s so warm! This time of year I love to freshen up my space, clean and dust everything, get rid of things I don’t need and most of all, get organized. I’ve recently discovered new custom labels from Minted.com to help me get organized. Minted‘s new labels are pre-designed but you can customize text and colours. They’re durable and a perfect way to customize and label containers, sports equipment, toys and even clothing. The labels are waterproof, non-toxic, laundry and dishwasher safe. Below are a few of my favorites, you can see […]
I made Rose Quartz crystals and I still can’t believe it! This DIY project is easier than it looks. The idea came from the need for Rose Quartz for a work project relating to Pantone Colour of the year Rose Quartz. I really didn’t want to pay lots of money for real Rose Quartz from the rock and gem store and I really didn’t like the look of the fake ones from the big box home decor stores because they were usually over saturated with neon pink dye or just weren’t the right colour. This project takes about 20 minutes to make […]
A quick and quirky DIY Valentine that pairs well with a small gift for your girlfriend, boyfriend, mom, dad, friend or anyone you love! It’s also great for birthday’s, anniversaries, or just because. I like that it doesn’t require a lot of craft supplies or skills, but it ends up being super cute, because in the end it’s the thought that matters.
